John Williamson

John Williamson was born in June 1949. Educated at City of Leicester Boys' Grammar School and Bradford University, he graduated with a degree in History, Philosophy and Literature. He went on to work for GEC-Marconi Electronics as a technical author, later becoming press officer.

Between 1977 and 1980 he worked as the European Editor of Telecommunications, Microwave Journal, Journal of Electronic Defense and Information Technology News.

He moved on to become the Editor of Communications Engineering International, working there between 1980 and 1984, before becoming the Editor of Jane's Military Communications in 1984. His other responsibilities have included being Editor of the weekly Telephony magazine, Publisher of Telephony's Communications Newsletter and Senior Technology Editor of Global Telephony. John Williamson has also contributed to numerous other journals.
